Chapter 7 - THE DIAGNOSIS WRITTEN BEFORE THE POOL.

The medical order described Claire as paranoid, financially motivated, and dangerous around the Vale family.

It had been prepared one week before Eleanor pushed her.

Daniel stared at his signature in disbelief.

Eleanor said he signed a stack of emergency risk documents after Claire began investigating the trust.

“You knew she was unstable,” Eleanor insisted. “You simply lacked the courage to act.”

Claire looked at Daniel.

“You keep saying you didn’t know. But every signature gave her another weapon.”

He did not argue.

The physician arrived, expecting to take Claire into private care before the police could interview her.

Rosa blocked the doorway.

“You diagnosed a woman you never examined.”

The doctor replied, “Her fixation on class injustice indicates persecutory thinking.”

Claire’s laugh held no humor.

“So poor people become mentally ill the moment they notice who took their money?”

The deputies seized the false order and the doctor’s phone.

Messages showed Eleanor instructing him to sedate Claire after the pool incident and record her confusion.

Then another message appeared.

The pool cover had not been meant to trap Claire permanently.

It had been meant to destroy something hidden beneath the drain.
