The investigators contacted the clinic, but its director claimed Anna had been transferred hours earlier.
No destination appeared in the records.
Damon said the trust could not be activated without the original page and Anna’s witness statement.
Vanessa’s confidence returned.
“You see, Claire? Courage is charming, but paperwork owns America.”
Claire opened the cracked phone again.
Her mother had hidden a photograph inside the voicemail attachment.
It showed the trust page taped beneath a drawer in Room 47.
A handwritten note read:
“The paper is not the proof. The people are.”
Anna had spent years collecting statements from employees whose pensions, housing rights, and medical benefits were taken.
She recorded names, dates, account numbers, and threats.
The trust page merely opened the door.
The testimony could tear down the entire company.
Damon moved toward Claire.
“You have no idea what happens if those files become public. Hundreds of employees could lose their jobs.”
Rosa stepped between them.
“You stole our retirement, then used our paychecks as a shield.”
Claire called the clinic’s night nurse through Anna’s hidden number.
The nurse admitted Anna had been removed by a private driver wearing a Hale security badge.
Marcus, Damon’s security chief, had taken her.
Damon claimed he never ordered it.
Vanessa laughed bitterly.
“You ordered everything without saying the ugly words. That is how men like you stay respectable.”
Then the mansion’s garage door opened downstairs.
Marcus had returned.
