Anna Reyes entered the bedroom supported by Marcus, thinner than Claire remembered but unmistakably alive.
Claire’s strength broke for the first time.
“Mom?”
Anna looked at the bruise above her daughter’s eye, then at Damon.
“You became your father faster than I feared.”
Damon stiffened.
“My father protected this family.”
Anna replied, “Your father taught you that protection means choosing who gets hurt.”
Marcus admitted he had been ordered to move Anna before the police reached the clinic.

Any family officer who used violence or medical coercion against a trustee immediately lost voting control.
Damon’s confession had triggered it.
Claire signed the activation.
Rosa signed as employee witness.
Anna signed beneath them.
The clock reached midnight.
Damon looked around the bedroom he had called his.
