Tests found toxic glaze beneath ceremonial plates used when the Whitmores hosted workers or unwanted guests.

Isaiah had eaten from them repeatedly while negotiating the trust.

Eleanor claimed she never knew.

Charles admitted ordering the defective china because it was cheaper.

“You poisoned staff to save money,” Maya said.

He answered, “No one understood the risk then.”

Denise placed old safety warnings beside him.

“You understood. You decided cooks and cleaners were cheaper than replacement plates.”

Charles, Eleanor and Judge Bell received federal sentences. Ryan was convicted for conspiracy and unlawful surveillance.

Whitmore Hospitality transferred into worker ownership. Wages, pensions and names were restored.

Maya returned no slap with another. She returned records and power.

The stained ivory dress and intact plate were displayed beneath glass.

A plaque read:

“THEY THREW DINNER AT HER BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT DIGNITY BELONGED TO THE RICH.”

At the reopening dinner, Gloria lifted the final sealed plate.
