Ryan admitted learning about Isaiah’s trust six months before proposing.
He insisted his feelings later became real.
Maya wiped dressing from her cheek.
“Real love does not need hidden transfer papers.”
Eleanor accused her of chasing wealth.
Maya answered, “I entered this house with student debt and a teacher’s salary. You invited me because my father left workers something your family could not steal cleanly.”
The prenuptial agreement had been placed among venue contracts and insurance forms. Maya’s signature appeared on the last page, but she had never seen the ownership clause.
Ryan said she should have read everything.
Gloria stared at him.
“Rich families hire lawyers for every comma, then blame working women for trusting the man they plan to marry.”
A forensic notary found the agreement had been altered after Maya signed.
The witness was Judge Thomas Bell, an old Whitmore family friend.
He was seated at the far end of the table.
When Maya asked him to explain, he reached for his phone.
