Chapter 2 - THE ROOM ERASED FROM THE HOTEL.

The hotel directory ended at Room 799, but a service blueprint showed a sealed executive suite above the ballroom.
Grant insisted it was an old storage floor.
Mara ordered hotel security to preserve every keycard record. The head concierge hesitated until Lily pointed at him.
“He took Mommy’s phone.”
The concierge admitted Grant’s father had threatened to fire every hourly worker if anyone helped Lily or her mother.
“We have families,” he said. “We cannot lose insurance over rich people’s secrets.”
Mara replied, “Fear explains silence. It does not make the child less trapped.”
The service elevator opened with an executive override card found in Grant’s pocket.
Inside Room 804, Mara found Lily’s mother, Elena Carter, conscious and unharmed but locked behind a bedroom door. Elena said she had worked as an accountant for the Holloway Foundation and discovered gala donations meant for poor children were paying for private jets and political gifts.
Then she handed Mara a ledger.
