Chapter 9 - THE EMPIRE THEY PLACED ON A CHILD.

The hotel had been bought with pension deductions taken from thousands of low-wage workers across Maryland.
The Holloways displayed their name above the entrance, but Lily’s trust held legal title as a protective shell.
Charles planned to take guardianship, sell the hotel and erase the workers’ claims.
Mara refused to place control in Lily’s hands.
“A seven-year-old should not carry an empire built from adult theft.”
The victim board converted the hotel into a worker-owned cooperative, subject to court approval, and placed Lily’s interest in a supervised trust.
Grant offered to testify against his father in exchange for immunity.
Elena answered, “Truth is not a coupon you exchange for freedom.”
Commissioner Reeves, Charles and Grant were charged with conspiracy, unlawful confinement, fraud and obstruction. Marcus agreed to testify without asking the court to forget his surveillance work.
Then the black case produced one final encrypted folder.
It contained gala footage recorded before Mara arrived.
In the video, Elena placed the vial beside Grant’s shoes.
