Chapter 10 - THE WOMAN OUTSIDE THE BALLROOM.

The ballroom doors remained closed.
On one side stood Lily, still wearing her waitress uniform.
On the other stood the family that had spent decades deciding who deserved wealth, dignity, and belief.
Grant insisted the visitor had to be another fraud.
But his voice no longer carried authority.
Evelyn walked toward the doors with Lily beside her.
She did not ask the guests to follow.
She did not give Grant another chance to explain.
She simply left him standing beneath the chandeliers while every investor, relative, and employee watched his carefully protected image collapse.
At the entrance, a hotel attendant handed Evelyn a sealed envelope delivered by the unknown woman.
Inside was a recent photograph of Eleanor.
She was alive.

Beneath the photograph, she had written only one sentence:
“Before Lily calls you family, ask Grant what he did the night I came home.”
