Grant finally admitted that Eleanor had tried to expose him.
She had discovered he was moving foundation money into private investments.
If she returned with her daughter, she would control the trust and could force a full audit.
Grant claimed he never harmed Eleanor.
He had merely convinced everyone that she was unstable, dishonest, and unfit to raise a child.
The same language he had used against Lily that night had once been used against her mother.
Madison begged Evelyn not to destroy the family over the word of a waitress.
That sentence ended whatever protection Evelyn still felt toward her granddaughter.
Evelyn removed her diamond family brooch and placed it beside Lily’s employee badge.
Then she announced that the gala would not continue until every Ashford account was opened.
Grant smiled coldly.
He reminded her that she no longer possessed legal authority to order an audit.
