For twenty-five years, Evelyn had trusted Grant’s version of the past.
He had been the loyal son.
Eleanor had been the reckless daughter.
Whenever Evelyn questioned the story, Grant reminded her that Eleanor had embarrassed the family, endangered the company, and chosen a poor musician over her inheritance.
Now the photograph showed Grant outside the clinic on the exact night Lily had been abandoned.
Grant claimed he had gone there to rescue Eleanor.
But Lily noticed the envelope in his hand carried the logo of Ashford Trust Legal Services.
Evelyn asked why a family attorney had been involved in a private medical emergency.
Grant refused to answer.
