THE WIFE THEY MADE A MAID / Chapter 5 / 10

Chapter 5 - THE COMPLAINT ADRIAN IGNORED.

Dr. Samuel Price admitted recommending a sedative but denied knowing it would be used before property meetings.

Adrian had approved Price as the family physician after the doctor saved a major executive from public scandal. Staff complaints had never reached the board because Vivian’s office labeled them emotional or vindictive.

Elena looked at Adrian.

“Rich men call a doctor discreet when poor patients would call him dangerous.”

Adrian suspended Price and surrendered his authority to an independent trust monitor. He also opened every complaint his company had buried.

One belonged to Elena.

Months earlier, she had reported forged signatures, medication changes and missing pension checks. Adrian’s executive assistant closed the file after Vivian called it a domestic dispute.

“I received a summary saying you wanted money,” Adrian said.

“And that was easier to believe than your mother harming people.”

He lowered his eyes.

“Yes.”

Then auditors found a payment of one hundred fifty thousand dollars to Elena.

Vivian smiled.

“Ask your brave wife what she sold.”

Elena’s face crumpled.

“My silence—for my sister’s surgery.”
