THE WIFE THEY MADE A MAID / Chapter 6 / 10

Chapter 6 - THE SILENCE ELENA SOLD.

Elena admitted accepting the payment after Vivian threatened to cancel her sister’s hospital coverage and remove Rosa from staff housing.

“I told myself I was buying time.”

Rosa’s disappointment was quiet.

“Time for your sister became eviction notices for ours.”

Elena placed the amount, with interest, into restitution and stepped away from leadership. Adrian tried to defend her; Adelaide stopped him.

“Coercion explains a compromised choice. It does not erase the workers harmed by it.”

Vivian seized on the admission, but the monitor separated each act. Elena’s settlement did not erase forged records, confinement or wage theft.

Restored camera footage showed Vivian ordering guards to move Elena into the service wing after she tried to mail evidence. Four guards obeyed without a court order.

The captain claimed they believed Elena was dangerous.

She lifted the scrub brush.

“This was the only thing you saw in my hand.”

Then one guard surrendered audio of Vivian asking, “Will Adrian believe she ran away?”

A man answered, “He already does.”

The voice belonged to Richard Mercer, Adrian’s uncle.
