Chapter 2 - THE HOUSEKEEPER THEY REFUSED TO BELIEVE.

The recording did not show the attack. It showed what happened before and after it: Garrick taking Sienna’s phone, Miriam dismissing the housekeeper, and both of them rehearsing the words “she fell.”
Garrick called the footage misleading.
Helen answered, “You did not fear misunderstanding. You feared chronology.”
Dr. Chen examined Sienna privately and confirmed her injury was inconsistent with a simple household fall. Sienna remained conscious, calm and able to speak for herself.
Miriam insisted the matter belonged inside the family.
“You praised her fear at a dinner table,” Helen said. “You made witnesses part of it.”
The board suspended Garrick from Ashford Development pending investigation. Then the housekeeper, Rosa Alvarez, produced months of written incident reports that management had refused to forward.
Garrick sneered. “She is staff. She will say anything to keep her job.”
Rosa looked at him.
“My paycheck is not proof that your word is worth more than mine.”

The oldest report was not about Sienna.
It was about Helen’s late husband—and Garrick’s father knew him.
