Sienna’s trust came from her grandmother, Evelyn Carter, who had owned farmland later absorbed into Ashford Development’s most profitable Virginia subdivision.
The Ashfords claimed they purchased the land fairly.
Helen produced county tax records showing Evelyn had signed while facing foreclosure caused by fees imposed through an Ashford-controlled bank.
Miriam called it lawful acquisition.
Helen answered, “Lawful does not mean clean when one family writes the loan, buys the land and funds the judge.”
If Sienna lost legal capacity, Garrick would gain her remaining mineral rights and the final parcel blocking a billion-dollar data-center project.
The injury, the false diagnosis and the family dinner had all been timed before a zoning vote.
Garrick said Sienna was imagining a conspiracy.
Fletcher placed a recovered message on the table.
It read: “Make the injury believable, but keep her able to sign.”
The sender was not Garrick.
It was Commissioner Fletcher’s own deputy.
Fletcher went silent.
