Chapter 8 - THE SENTENCE VICTORIA CUT IN HALF.
Adrian demanded the full recording.
The restored sentence was: “Keep her there until I return with counsel. No one questions her without me.” Victoria had removed the final words and used the fragment to convince staff that Adrian approved confinement.
The recording cleared him of ordering the lock. It did not clear him of building a security system his mother could misuse.
“I gave one family authority over guards, doctors and lawyers,” Adrian said. “That power made her lie believable.”
He transferred the mansion, foundation accounts and Vale care facilities into court supervision.
Victoria called it betrayal.
“You would destroy your inheritance for people who cleaned our rooms?”
Adrian answered, “They financed the rooms, paid the fund and lost their homes. It was never only ours.”
Thomas’s original will was finally opened. If any beneficiary used incapacity proceedings to seize property, all Vale real estate would pass to a board elected by affected residents and employees.
The clause had activated years earlier.
But one page was missing—the page naming the person who had removed it.
