Diane’s face appeared clearly in the recording as Helen signed the worker-benefit trust two years earlier.
She had been present, understood Helen’s wishes and later helped replace the valid will with one favoring Ryan.
Diane claimed she attended only because Helen begged her to protect the family from predatory employees.
Helen answered that Diane had begged for a second chance after Ryan’s father left her with debts and no social standing.
Helen had given her a home, a position at the foundation and access to every donor now standing on the lawn.
Diane repaid that generosity by turning class resentment into a weapon.
She told Ryan that workers were stealing his inheritance, convinced Dr. Cole to declare Helen incompetent and persuaded Judge Voss that family reputation mattered more than testimony from residents of a care facility.
Several guests tried to leave quietly.
Marcus ordered no one to stop them, but reminded the livestream that the names of donors who benefited from the estate sale were included in his file.
They remained, not from conscience but fear.
Luis and the housekeepers stepped beside Helen.
One by one, workers described unpaid overtime, threats tied to employer-provided housing and medical bills deducted from wages.
Ryan mocked them for complaining about jobs that had fed their families.
Marcus replied that gratitude did not cancel exploitation.
The legal file included payroll records proving the Ashford Foundation diverted worker retirement contributions into Ryan’s polo club and Diane’s charity galas.
The same guests who had applauded speeches about rural poverty had eaten dinners purchased with money taken from gardeners and caregivers.
Diane finally offered to restore Helen’s house if Marcus ended the livestream and destroyed the evidence.
Helen refused.
A home returned in exchange for everyone else’s silence would be another locked shed.
Then a notary audit arrived through Marcus’s tablet.
