Maya explained that the keycard was a decoy fitted with a tracking chip. She expected Ethan to access the private archive where pension transfers and custody plans were stored.
She did not expect him to bring Lucas’s removal order.
Claire’s hurt remained sharp.
“You used my wedding as cover without warning me.”
Maya accepted the accusation.
“I believed your humiliation would last one day. Workers had waited twenty years.”
“One injustice does not become smaller because another lasted longer,” Claire replied.
The employee council barred both women from controlling the investigation until independent counsel reviewed their conduct.
The tracked keycard opened an archive beneath the airline lounge. Inside were pension ledgers, medical files and paternity agreements involving women employed across the company.
Ethan had acknowledged children only when their mothers controlled worker-trust shares.
One agreement belonged to Anna Brooks, a former flight attendant fired after reporting wage theft.
Her daughter was listed as a Lawson heir.
