Claire had signed the prenuptial agreement believing it protected her separate income and Adrian’s family estate.
A hidden page had been inserted after notarization.
Adrian said he did not know.
Claire looked at him.
“You held me while your mother marked my face for arrest. Ignorance is not the only betrayal in this room.”
Eleanor dismissed the worker agreement as symbolic.
“Employees accepted wages. They were never investors.”
The head housekeeper, Rosa Alvarez, stepped from the staff line.
“We accepted reduced wages because your father said the hotels would close.”
The ledgers showed forty-six workers had financed repairs, insurance and payroll. With Maria’s shares, they controlled fifty-one percent of Vale Hospitality.
Eleanor had spent years calling the hotels a family legacy while the real owners polished the chandeliers beneath her name.
Then Rosa produced a hospital bracelet.
Maria had not died five years earlier.
