Chapter 8 - THE MAN WHO USED HER AS BAIT.
Daniel admitted repositioning the camera because he suspected Eleanor and Charles were using Madison to discredit Victoria.
He had received an anonymous warning but told no one.
Victoria stared at him.
“You knew I might be cornered, and you chose a better recording angle instead of warning me.”
Daniel said he needed evidence strong enough to survive his family’s attorneys.
“Then you used me as bait because a housekeeper’s daughter was an acceptable risk.”
The employee council removed Daniel from the internal investigation. Fletcher preserved his warning messages and referred his conduct for review.
The anonymous source had attached photographs of Eleanor loosening the table bracket and Charles preparing the false complaint.
Its sender used a staff email registered to Maria Cole.
Maria had died five years earlier.
Gloria checked the address history. Someone had accessed it nightly from the mansion’s old service wing.
