Chapter 9 - THE WOMAN HIDDEN INSIDE THE MANSION.

The hidden office belonged to Ruth Ashford, Daniel’s aunt and former chief financial officer of the family company.
Ruth had lived quietly in the service wing after Eleanor declared her mentally unfit during a board dispute. Staff delivered meals believing the room stored antiques.
Ruth had used Maria’s abandoned account to send the warning because messages under her own name were blocked.
“You hid a wealthy woman in a mansion,” Victoria said, “and called the workers outside unreliable.”
Ruth surrendered records proving Eleanor, Charles and senior attorneys diverted the trust, denied medical claims and fabricated reports against anyone who objected.
She also admitted waiting years because the arrangement preserved her inheritance.
Gloria replied, “Confinement can make you a victim. Wealth can still make your silence profitable.”
Federal agents arrested Eleanor and Charles. Madison faced charges for the false statement but cooperated without demanding immunity.
