Chapter 6 - The Brother Taken Before Her

Hidden records showed Miguel was born at Vale Memorial to teenage farmworker Teresa Morales.
The Vales placed him in a “temporary infant program” after Teresa collapsed in the fields. Her sister secretly recovered him before a private adoption was completed.
Miguel had believed he was born at home.
Senator Vale dismissed the record as ancient history.

The other twenty-six names belonged to children moved through ranches, hospitals and church foundations across three states.
Some became heirs for wealthy families. Others vanished into sealed guardianships.
Lupita discovered the network after finding Miguel’s file.
That discovery caused her disappearance.
Agents rescued several women from an underground clinic, but Lupita had escaped hours earlier carrying a red ledger filled with donor names, judges and hospital officials.
Miguel received a live call from a freight train.
Lupita appeared, exhausted but alive.
“Do not trust the federal team,” she warned. “The Vales do not own the network.”
“Who does?”
Lupita turned the camera.
