Chapter 1 - THE FALL THAT STOPPED THE WEDDING.
Sophie walked down the marble aisle beside Adrian while guests watched from both sides.
Without warning, he slid one polished shoe into her path.
She fell onto her hands and knees, her white tulle skirt spreading across the floor.
Claire rushed forward and pulled the crying child into her arms.
“Sophie, are you hurt?”
“He tripped me on purpose.”
Margaret stepped from the guest line.
“You will not embarrass this family over a clumsy child.”
Claire rose and placed Sophie behind her.
“He humiliated a six-year-old in front of everyone.”
Adrian smirked.
“She needed to learn that this wedding is not about her.”
Claire knocked him backward with one controlled kick, then stared down at him.
“Come near her again, and everyone will learn exactly what you are.”
Sophie opened her flower basket. Beneath the white petals lay a sealed custody petition.
