Emily admitted disabling the elevator alarm to stop Thomas from attending a secret meeting with Margaret.
She expected the elevator to remain locked.
Adrian later overrode the system, turning her desperate act into a fatal trap.
Emily did not ask Sophie to excuse her.
“I loved your father, but fear made me controlling. He paid for my choice.”
Margaret smiled from custody.
“Now your heroes are no better than us.”
Claire answered, “Emily confessed without buying a judge, a clinic or a child’s silence.”
The worker board removed Emily from automatic leadership while preserving her right to treatment and family contact.
Sophie remained with Claire under independent court supervision.
Adrian was convicted of conspiracy, assault and fraud.
Margaret lost the hotels and foundation.
At sentencing, Sophie placed her flower basket on the evidence table.
Inside was another letter from Thomas.
