Chapter 9 - THE PRICE THEY OFFERED HIM TO LEAVE.

The ticket sent Daniel to Seattle that night with a guaranteed partnership at Holloway’s law firm.
Grant had planned to offer it after the wedding if Daniel agreed to withdraw from Lily’s life.
“I knew he would refuse,” Emma said.
Grant smiled.
“Everyone has a number.”
Daniel opened the offer letter. The salary could have paid Emma’s debts, Lily’s school costs and Caroline’s care.
Lily watched his face.
“This is the hard part, isn’t it?”
Daniel tore nothing and made no theatrical speech. He handed the document to the court officer.
“Preserve it as evidence. I am staying, but staying does not make me Lily’s owner.”
The judge denied Grant’s custody request, suspended Nathan’s claim pending investigation and placed the trust under elected worker control.
Grant, Nathan and the Holloway attorneys faced fraud and coercion inquiries. Helen and Daniel accepted review for their roles in the eviction system.
The wedding resumed without corporate guests.
