Chapter 5 - THE LETTER DAVID GAVE AWAY.
David left the television feed and arrived at the mansion with independent counsel. He admitted opening Naomi’s letter years earlier after Vanessa told him it contained an attempt to extort the family.
“I saw my father’s handwriting and still handed it to her attorney.”
Eleanor’s disappointment was quieter than anger. “You believed money made accusation more credible than service.”
David surrendered his company vote and every profit connected to Cross Residential. Vanessa tried to call his confession proof that the entire family was equally guilty.
Naomi stopped her.
“Negligence, coercion and theft are different acts. Each will keep its own name.”
The second will did not replace the first. It activated only if the covenant beneficiaries were confined, evicted or declared incompetent. Under that condition, the Hale investment company transferred to a resident-worker board.
Carter read the activation date.
It had occurred four years earlier.
