Chapter 9 - THE FAMILY ELEANOR CHOSE TO PROTECT.

Eleanor admitted asking Thomas to remove the automatic company transfer from the covenant.

She had feared a resident-worker board would sell the mansion, dismiss loyal staff and destroy the only home David had known.

“I wanted to preserve the family.”

Naomi answered, “You kept defining the family as the people upstairs.”

Thomas refused the change and installed the camera after Eleanor met privately with Vanessa’s attorney. Eleanor never forged a page, but her attempt gave Vanessa the strategy and legal language later used against her.

The covenant beneficiaries voted to remove Eleanor and David from temporary control while preserving their right to testify and seek an elected role later.

Vanessa, Julian Cross and participating executives faced fraud, coercion and elder-exploitation charges. Homes were frozen, competency orders reopened and residents given independent counsel.

Then Carter examined the mud dried on Vanessa’s red heel.
