Chapter 10 - THE LICENSE BENEATH THE TOWELS.

Vanessa admitted arranging the corridor encounter after discovering the custody petition. She believed a public confrontation would stop Adrian from boarding a flight and moving the trust hearing to Virginia.

Elena’s voice was cold.

“You used my pregnancy as evidence because you knew people would finally look up when a wealthy bride was embarrassed.”

Vanessa accepted the employee council’s censure and surrendered her voting shares pending restitution.

Adrian and Richard were charged with fraud, coercion, wage theft and conspiracy to manipulate custody. Caroline faced review for record changes and concealed authority. Elena kept custody of her child; any contact Adrian sought would proceed through ordinary family court.

Vale Hotels became a worker-controlled benefit corporation. Service charges, maternity benefits and erased jobs were restored.

Elena’s cart, Adrian’s phone and the forged guardian form entered the labor archive.

A plaque read:

“HE HID THE MOTHER IN A SERVICE HALLWAY BECAUSE HE THOUGHT HER UNIFORM MADE HER EASY TO ERASE.”
