Chapter 5 - THE INSTABILITY THEY CREATED FOR HER.

Vanessa faced Adrian in the private lounge.

“You assigned me a child before telling me the mother existed.”

Adrian claimed the guardian designation would activate only if Elena became unable to care for the baby.

The clinic report described Elena as anxious, uncooperative and financially dependent. Her doctor had never written those words.

Elena explained that hotel management scheduled her for split shifts, then recorded missed prenatal appointments as neglect.

“They created the instability they needed to prove.”

A nurse confirmed Vale Hotels pressured clinics to share employee pregnancy records through a so-called wellness partnership.

Vanessa had publicly promoted that program as support for working mothers.

A pregnant banquet server stepped forward.

“They used your smiling photograph while cutting my hours after I asked for a stool.”

Vanessa placed her campaign bonuses under restitution review.

Then investigators found Elena had accepted fifty thousand dollars from Adrian two months earlier.

Richard smiled coldly.

“Ask your honest housekeeper what she sold.”

Elena looked at the workers.

“My silence. Because the clinic would not treat me without a deposit.”
