Chapter 2 - THE CALLS HIS FAMILY ERASED.

Ethan took Maya into a private conference room with two hotel employees as witnesses.

Victoria demanded privacy.

Maya answered, “Privacy is where your family taught me to disappear.”

The hotel’s phone records showed thirty-two calls from Maya had been rerouted to executive security. Six letters were opened. Two prenatal appointments had been canceled by someone using Ethan’s family account.

Victoria claimed she was protecting him from an unstable former employee.

Maya lifted her chin.

“I cleaned your suite while you called me trash. Being poor did not make me dishonest.”

Ethan learned his mother, Eleanor Caldwell, had ordered HR to terminate Maya after discovering the pregnancy. Her dismissal form described her as unreliable before any investigation occurred.

Then Maya produced a voicemail Ethan had supposedly sent.

His voice said, “I never want to see you again.”

Ethan listened twice.

“That is not me.”

A forensic technician confirmed the message had been assembled from old recordings.

The person who created it used Ethan’s private phone archive.

Only Victoria and Eleanor had access.
