Chapter 9 - THE CUSTODY ORDER WRITTEN BEFORE BIRTH.

The sealed order claimed Maya was financially unstable and that the unborn child required placement with the Caldwell family.

The judge had never met her.

Maya faced him in federal court.

“You saw my uniform and decided poverty was evidence against motherhood.”

He answered that the Caldwell home offered superior resources.

“Resources stolen from workers do not prove moral fitness,” the federal prosecutor replied.

The order was suspended. The judge, Eleanor, Victoria and Daniel Price were charged with conspiracy, fraud and obstruction.

Daniel had cooperated, but the worker council refused to erase his role in isolating Maya.

The hotel group transferred into employee ownership. Pensions were restored, wage theft claims reopened and Luis’s name returned to the engineering patents.

Ethan accepted a nonexecutive job under worker supervision.

Then a DNA analyst requested an emergency meeting.

Ethan was the baby’s father.

But the report showed Maya’s pregnancy involved an embryo created at a clinic funded by the Caldwell Foundation.
