Chapter 6 - THE FATHER WHO BOUGHT SILENCE.

Ethan had grown up believing his late father, Richard Caldwell, rescued the hotel through personal investment.
The recording proved Richard used worker wages as collateral, then transferred the hotel into a family trust that erased employee ownership.
Eleanor defended him.
“He preserved thousands of jobs.”
Samuel answered, “We preserved them. He preserved the family name.”
Luis had discovered the transfer and planned to testify before dying in a maintenance-room fire officially blamed on faulty wiring.
Maya looked at Ethan.
“My father died in the hotel he saved, and your family sent flowers instead of answers.”
Ethan ordered the fire investigation reopened.
The original report contained photographs of a cut alarm wire.
The contractor who signed the report now worked for Victoria’s father.
Victoria insisted she knew nothing.
Then Daniel Price played a second recording.
Victoria’s voice said, “Luis cannot reach the hearing tomorrow.”

She claimed she meant he should be delayed, not harmed.
The final audio captured Eleanor replying, “Then use the same contractor we used before.”
