Investigators arrested the contractor and reopened three other hotel fires involving employee witnesses.
Victoria offered to testify against Eleanor for immunity.
The worker council refused a private bargain.
“You may tell the truth,” Samuel said. “You may not purchase innocence with it.”
Maya also rejected automatic control of the worker trust.
“My father’s name does not make me owner of everyone else’s sacrifice.”
The employees elected an interim board and placed Maya under the same conflict rules as Ethan.
Then auditors found a transfer from Luis’s trust made two weeks before his death.
The money had paid Maya’s college tuition.
