Chapter 7 - The Bridesmaid Who Chose Truth Late

Security found a duplicate phone hidden inside Sloane’s evening bag.

Lydia had given it to her and ordered her to follow instructions without asking questions.

Cameron promised marriage, status and board access if she helped destroy Evelyn.

Evelyn’s reply was merciless.

“You were not afraid of poverty, Sloane. You were afraid of becoming ordinary, so you crushed a woman you ranked beneath you.”

Sloane lowered her head.

“You are right.”

She agreed to testify without immunity and released every recording.

Lydia was arrested at the Charleston airport carrying the original worker-ownership contract and Amelia’s unedited crash file.

A federal court placed forty percent of Whitmore Hotels under a worker council.

Banquet staff, cooks and housekeepers entered the ballroom through the central aisle while Cameron watched from custody.

The workers removed him unanimously.

Arthur surrendered his chairmanship.

Justice finally felt visible.

Then Lydia’s file revealed Amelia had survived the crash and died six hours later inside a private Whitmore clinic.

Her final visitor was Evelyn.

Jacob looked at her.
