Chapter 8 - The Secret Amelia Died Protecting

Evelyn admitted Amelia called from the clinic and asked for the ring containing the deposit-box key.
Amelia also revealed that Jacob was not Cameron’s nephew by blood.
His biological father was Thomas Reed, Evelyn’s older brother and a Whitmore banquet captain who organized employees.
Cameron’s brother adopted Jacob to hide him from the board.
Jacob stared at Evelyn.
“You are my aunt?”
“Yes. I stayed silent because Amelia believed the Whitmores would take you if they knew.”
Arthur called her silence unforgivable.
Evelyn turned on him.
“You buried worker ownership, protected Cameron and ignored Amelia. Do not lecture me from the throne your silence built.”
Thomas had held the original worker proxy.
After his death, it passed to Jacob.
Cameron wanted custody not only for the money, but to recover those voting rights.
Rosa knelt beside Jacob.
“They wanted your signature. We want you safe.”
The court placed his shares in an independent child trust.
Then Amelia’s nurse delivered her last recording.
“Evelyn, if Arthur denies knowing Thomas, show him the cake photograph.”
The photograph showed Arthur beside Anna and Thomas.
