THE CAMERA BELIEVED EMMA. / Chapter 1 / 10

Chapter 1 - THE CHILD IN THE SILENT CIRCLE.

Emma stood beneath the chandelier, surrounded by adults who had already decided her tears were inconvenient.

Three faint scratches marked her cheek. Reflective fragments glittered across the ballroom floor near her shoes.

Victoria leaned toward her in a burgundy gown.

“You said no one would believe me,” Emma said.

Charles stepped between them.

“Then explain what happened here.”

Victoria lifted one polished hand.

“She broke a display, panicked, and accused me because children from unstable homes learn manipulation early.”

Emma touched her cheek, turned, and pointed toward the wall monitor.

“The camera saw everything.”

The security footage showed Victoria kneeling among the fragments while Emma stood behind her. Victoria moved pieces across the floor, then looked directly toward the camera.

Her composure vanished.

“Victoria,” Charles began, “what did you—”

Emma interrupted him.

“She was hiding something under the glass.”

The monitor froze on Victoria’s hand.

Beneath it was a silver bracelet belonging to Emma’s missing mother.
