Chapter 5 - THE HEIR WHO FOLLOWED ORDERS.

Charles’s son, Andrew Vale, stepped from among the guests.
He admitted escorting Clara downstairs but claimed Victoria told him she was dangerous.
Emma stared at him.
“You helped hide my mother because an expensive woman called her unstable.”
Andrew’s face flushed.
“I believed I was protecting the family.”
Marcus answered, “That sentence has buried more workers than any locked door.”
The basement records showed Clara was transferred to a foundation residence outside Philadelphia. Andrew signed the transport order without reading the patient’s real name.
Charles did not defend him.
“You had lawyers, education, and every reason to ask. Ignorance was comfortable because someone poorer paid for it.”
Victoria tried to turn the room against Emma.
“If this becomes public, investors will leave and employees will lose jobs.”
A housekeeper named Rosa stepped forward.
“You stole our pensions, then used our paychecks as shields.”
Andrew surrendered his phone.
Messages proved Victoria ordered Clara moved again that afternoon.
The destination was listed only as “Room 9.”
Marcus recognized the code.
Room 9 was not in the clinic.
