Victoria claimed the bracelet had fallen from Emma’s pocket.
“Her mother stole from this hotel. Now the daughter is repeating the pattern.”
Emma’s lips trembled, but her voice stayed clear.
“My mother wore that bracelet the night she disappeared.”
Charles demanded the footage continue.
It showed Victoria removing the bracelet from her clutch and placing it beside the fragments. She then guided Emma into the center of the room before calling the guests over.
No one had witnessed the beginning.
They had only arrived for the accusation.
A waiter named Marcus stepped forward.
“Mrs. Vale told security to keep staff away from the ballroom cameras.”
Victoria glared at him.
“You serve drinks. Do not confuse employment with authority.”
Marcus answered, “My uniform does not make my eyes less accurate.”
Charles ordered the ballroom doors closed.
Then the monitor displayed another angle.
Victoria was speaking to the hotel manager before Emma entered.
Her words were clear:
“Once the child is blamed, the trust transfers tonight.”
Charles looked down at Emma.
“What trust?”

Emma opened her small purse.
Inside was an envelope addressed to him in her mother’s handwriting.
