THE CAMERA BELIEVED EMMA. / Chapter 6 / 10

Chapter 6 - THE ROOM BENEATH THEIR CELEBRATION.

Police opened the sealed service corridor beneath the ballroom.

Room 9 contained medical supplies, employee files, and a narrow office where Clara had been kept during major Vale events.

Above her, donors praised the family’s charity work.

Below them, the woman who exposed stolen wages was hidden without a voice.

Emma found her mother’s scarf on the chair.

Victoria called the room temporary protective housing.

Rosa looked at her with disgust.

“You locked a worker beneath a gala about dignity.”

Clara was gone, but she had scratched a message into the desk:

“THE CAMERA HAS TWO ARCHIVES.”

Marcus checked the security system.

The family viewed only the edited recordings.

A second archive had been created by hotel technicians after years of unexplained deletions.

The hidden footage showed Victoria, Andrew, and the hotel manager moving Clara through the basement.

It also showed Charles entering Room 9 two months earlier.

Emma looked at him.

“You knew where she was.”

Charles went pale.

“I was told she was another patient.”

“You never asked her name.”

Then the archive opened its final file.

Charles was not merely visiting.

He was signing Clara’s guardianship renewal.
