Daniel Pierce appeared by secure video from a private clinic in Wisconsin.

He admitted surviving the reported heart attack and entering witness protection after discovering illegal infant-placement contracts inside the family hospital network.

Caroline laughed.

“You disappeared and left me to protect the company.”

Daniel replied, “You protected the company by selling poor mothers’ choices to wealthy donors.”

The program targeted uninsured families. Parents were offered medical debt relief if they surrendered custody. Donors called the payments charitable contributions.

Ruth had worked in the cafeteria and unknowingly delivered sealed packets between administrators.

She did not ask to be excused.

“Being poor made me easier to use. It did not make every envelope harmless.”

Daniel said Michael stole the twin files and planned to expose the program before his fatal car crash.
