Chapter 10 - The Mother Who Raised Her From Afar
Grace admitted she was Ruby and Vanessa’s biological mother.
Anna was her older sister.
Charles selected Grace for the fertility program because she worked inside the Cole mansion and had no family money to fight back.
When the twins were born, Anna helped Grace escape with Ruby.
To protect them, Anna assumed the identity of Ruby’s mother while Grace remained inside the mansion collecting evidence.

“You stood ten feet away tonight while Vanessa hit me, and you still called yourself the house manager.”

Margaret faced civil penalties and surrendered most of her fortune.
Lydia, Lauren, Crane and Vanessa received federal sentences.
The underground clinic became a legal and medical center for women harmed by coercive fertility programs.
At Anna’s memorial, Ruby wore the swallow pendant while employees—not socialites—occupied the front rows.
For the first time, the women behind the gowns were named publicly.
Then Ethan opened Charles’s final sealed will.
It stated that neither Ruby nor Vanessa was the intended Cole heir.
Charles had acknowledged a son born to Anna in 1968.
That son had inherited controlling rights before anyone in the ballroom was born.
A photograph slipped from the envelope.
It showed Anna holding a baby beside a young hotel employee.
Ruby recognized the employee immediately.
He was Marcus—the security manager who had lowered his eyes after she was slapped.
Marcus stepped from the back of the ballroom and locked the doors.
