Chapter 7 - The Twin Behind the East Wing
Agents searched the mansion’s sealed east wing and found a nursery designed for a four-year-old girl.
The child, Emma, had been raised by private staff and told Victoria was her mother.
DNA testing confirmed Emma and Lily were twins.
Sarah stood outside the nursery door, afraid to approach too quickly.
Victoria had given one sister silk dresses and isolated lessons while using the other as bait in custody schemes.
Victoria defended herself.
“Emma received everything Sarah could never provide.”
Sarah’s voice cut through her.
“You gave her luxury without truth and called that love. A golden cage is still a cage.”
Emma recoiled when Lily entered.
Victoria had taught her that Lily was dangerous and Sarah arrested innocent mothers for money.
Lily did not force the meeting.
She placed a stuffed rabbit on the floor between them.
“I am not taking your room,” she said. “I just wanted to know you.”
Daniel discovered he had signed the embryo-storage agreement years earlier without reading a hidden annex.
Sarah faced him.
“Poor families lose homes for signatures they cannot understand. You had three lawyers and chose obedience.”
Daniel accepted supervised contact only.
Victoria was arrested for fraud, child endangerment and unlawful custody.
As officers led her away, Emma began crying.
Then a nanny named Rosa stepped forward.
She said Victoria had not carried Emma.
