Chapter 8 - The Agent Who Managed Sarah’s Life

Director Ward admitted approving the embryo transfer but claimed she was protecting Sarah from the Harringtons.
She said one twin had to remain hidden as evidence while Sarah raised the other naturally.
Sarah stared at her.
“You separated my daughters, let Victoria raise one and called it an operation?”
Ward insisted the plan exposed judges, donors and medical officials across twelve states.
“One controlled family gave us the entire network.”
Sarah’s anger shook the room.
“You always call it controlled when someone else’s child does the crying.”
Ward had recruited Sarah into the federal agency, selected her assignments and guided her toward cases connected to the Harrington Foundation.
Sarah’s career had been shaped to trigger the conspiracy at the right time.
Teresa called it another version of ownership.
“They stole Sarah as a child. You turned her into an investigator and still never let her choose.”
Ward defended herself.
“I gave her power.”
Sarah replied, “Power without consent is another cage.”
Federal oversight agents arrested Ward for illegal surveillance and reckless endangerment.
The national custody network began collapsing through emergency reviews.
Families reunited slowly under independent counseling.
Black lost his judgeship.
Eleanor’s private schools were seized.
Workers took control of the foundation.
The reversal was public and humiliating for every donor who had praised the program.
Then Ward offered one last file.
Emma and Lily were not created from Daniel’s genetic material.
Their biological father was Judge Black.
Daniel looked sick.

Black smiled from custody.
“Now you understand why the court always belonged to me.”
