The worker trust named three hundred twelve longshoremen, mechanics and warehouse staff who had surrendered wages to keep Hale Shipping alive.
Victor had preserved their shares in secret because powerful investors threatened to break the company apart.
Claire turned toward him.
“You taught me the Whitmores were thieves, but you never told me workers owned our fortune too.”
Victor did not defend himself.
“I feared they would sell under pressure.”
An elderly dockworker named Samuel Grant answered from the doorway.
“You protected us by making every decision without us.”
Ethan smiled as though the fracture had saved him.
“Even her own father admits she was raised on a lie.”
Claire looked at him.
“A hidden truth is still different from a forged one.”
The worker representatives demanded immediate control of their trust. Victor agreed to surrender his voting authority pending review.
