Victor admitted offering the shares as bait because he wanted proof Ethan was targeting Claire.
“I needed him to expose himself.”
Claire’s voice shook.
“You gambled with my marriage to test a man you already suspected.”
Victor accepted removal from every family company.
“I thought I could control the danger.”
Samuel replied, “That is what rich men say before workers and daughters pay for their confidence.”
The worker board elected temporary leaders and barred every Hale and Whitmore from voting.
Madison tried to flee the ballroom, but federal agents stopped her.
Her phone contained messages showing she planned to marry Ethan only long enough to access both fortunes.
Ethan stared at her.
“You were using me?”
Claire answered before Madison could.
“Now you understand betrayal only because it reached your table.”
Then investigators found hospital payments from Whitmore Capital to the clinic where Claire recovered after a car accident.
Her medical files had been copied there.
