Rebecca entered under federal protection.
Claire could not move.
“You let me mourn you.”
Rebecca admitted faking her death after discovering Whitmore Capital was using medical records to identify vulnerable heirs and workers.
Victor had helped her disappear.
Claire looked between her parents.
“You both called secrecy protection while I buried an empty coffin.”
Rebecca did not ask forgiveness.
“I believed distance would keep you alive.”
The records had been used to forge Claire’s signature and create the instability claim.
Rebecca stayed hidden because Judge Reed threatened to revoke licenses and imprison clinic employees who helped her.
A nurse named Denise Carter stepped forward.
“We were working-class women in a private hospital. They knew nobody would believe us over donors.”
Rebecca surrendered every account used during her disappearance.
Then Denise opened the clinic ledger.
Rebecca had authorized one payment to Ethan after Claire’s accident.
It was labeled “cooperation.”
Claire stared at her mother.
“You paid the man who later shoved me?”
