Elaine admitted she suspected Vivian had trained Brittany to provoke workers and service staff whenever contracts were disputed.
She activated the phone to preserve whatever was said.
“But you walked back into the ballroom and challenged me in front of everyone,” Brittany said.
“Yes.”
“You wanted a public reaction.”
Elaine did not deny it.
“I believed witnesses would finally expose how your family used contempt as negotiation.”
Rosa stepped between them.
“You had evidence of the stolen fund already. You chose humiliation because it made the case dramatic.”
Elaine accepted censure from the worker board and withdrew from all legal strategy.
Brittany faced consequences for the slap, but no one allowed Elaine to convert being struck into moral ownership.
Charles, Vivian and Adrian were investigated separately for fraud, false appraisal and misuse of the medical fund.
Then the intact champagne flute was examined.
