THE FILE IN HIS SUITCASE / Chapter 7 / 10

Chapter 7 - THE GENERAL WHO SOLD THEIR MEDICAL FILES.

General Hale entered wearing civilian clothes and called the data-sharing program a national employment initiative.

Claire stood at attention only long enough to acknowledge his rank.

“Sir, did you sell medical records without consent?”

Hale replied that employers needed risk information.

A veteran on the council answered, “You turned treatment into a blacklist.”

Hale insisted the program kept companies willing to hire former service members.

Claire said, “Employment offered only after surrendering privacy is another form of control.”

Federal agents seized his phone.

Messages showed Hale had pressured Claire to promote Lawson Global because Ethan’s company funded military transition events.

Ethan had not merely used Claire’s marriage. He had used her uniform as corporate credibility.

Lila revealed that senior staff called Claire “the decorated wife” in campaign meetings and mocked veteran applicants as damaged inventory.

Then the board discovered Hale had received stock options through a trust.

The trust’s beneficiary was Claire.
