Forensic analysts examined Claire’s file and found two documents had been added after she copied it from Ethan’s computer.
The false pages made Ethan appear responsible for transfers approved by Margaret Lawson and General Hale.
Ethan seized on the discovery.
“She framed me.”
Claire did not retreat.
“The affair, the veteran fund recording and Marcus’s removal are genuine. False evidence does not erase true conduct.”
Lila admitted accessing Claire’s device the night before the confrontation.
Margaret had threatened to blacklist her from every major Chicago firm unless she inserted the pages.
Lila faced the veteran council.
“I was frightened of losing a career I had not even started.”
A council member answered, “Fear explains the doorway. You still walked through it.”
Lila surrendered her phone and accepted investigation.
Margaret, Hale, Ethan and Daniel faced separate charges and professional review.
Then James Mitchell appeared by secure video.
He said the person who ordered the false pages was not Margaret.
It was Marcus Reed.
