Officers opened the buffet’s lower warming cabinet after confirming it was cool and safe.
Inside was a sealed evidence case containing Ethan’s original recordings, Claire’s marriage license and the missing worker-trust charter.
Ethan appeared by secure video, alive but still under federal protection. He did not ask Ruby to call him father or treat the revelation as a reunion owed to him.
“I stayed hidden to preserve the case,” he said. “That choice also left my daughter without answers.”
Ruby remained beside Mara and her advocate. Any relationship would proceed at her pace.
Eleanor, Diane, Judge Mercer and participating executives faced fraud, custody-conspiracy and wage-theft investigations. Henry surrendered assets tied to the scheme. The hotels became a worker-governed benefit corporation, and seized family funds were restored.
