The attorney traced the payments to the Ashford Children’s Stability Fund. Hotel housekeepers, kitchen staff and maintenance workers had donated portions of their wages after the foundation promised emergency housing and legal care for their families.
Instead, executives used the fund to remove children from parents who challenged unpaid wages or unsafe housing.
An elderly banquet server named Rosa Delgado stepped from the guest line.
“My daughter lost custody after she reported stolen tips. Your foundation called her emotional. Your hotel called her replaceable.”
Henry looked around the gala he had praised minutes earlier.
“This event was paid from that fund?”
